Why do we shake hands with people ?

10 Everyday Mysteries

Life is full of tiny everyday mysteries, most of which we just accept without asking questions. We did the asking for you in this slide show, so sit back and take a moment to learn more about these quirky, quotidian facts of life !

1. Why do we shake hands with people ?
The origin of the handshake lies in medieval history. By offering a right hand to a stranger, a hand that could otherwise be used to draw a sword, men were overtly displaying their intentions of peace toward one another. Nowadays, from signing a treaty to settling a bet with friends, "shaking on it" remains a symbolic sign of agreement.

4. Why do we blush ?
When you're embarrassed or ashamed, your body releases a tiny amount of adrenaline. Adrenaline causes blood vessels in your face to dilate, allowing more blood to flow to your cheeks. This causes reddening, or blushing. Sociologically, blushing may be useful as a means of communication, as it can act as a wordless signal. For example, if we blush when we're attracted to someone, we are allowing what's on our minds to be known without having to say a thing.

6. Why are wedding rings worn on the fourth finger ?
There was an ancient belief that a vein, known as the "vena amoris," or "vein of love," ran directly from the fourth finger of the left hand to the heart. It was thought that this direct blood flow to the heart made it the perfect candidate for a wedding ring, as it solidified the union of love. However, in reality the veins running from the fourth finger are no different from those of any other finger, and it seems as if shrewd marketing, hearsay and tradition have designated the fourth finger as the "ring finger."

jin organization

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nei_Jin
...
the Chinese term for the "internal power" associated with Chinese martial arts. Theoretically the opposite of brute muscular force, nèi jìn should be characterized by softness, elasticity, and flexibility. When nèi jìn is successfully exerted, body and breathing supposedly work together as a single unit, with no wasted effort anywhere in the musculature.
...
Nèi jìn is developed by using "nèigōng" (), or "internal exercises" ... many internal styles use pushing hands as a way to train the principles. A famous application of nèi jìn is the "fā jìn" () used by practitioners of the internal martial arts to generate relaxed but explosive force. A key aspect of fa jin is the recruitment of the body's sinews (tendons, ligaments, and other connective tissues) to release force rather than relying on muscular tension.

Jìn (勁), or "power," is often confused by Westerners with the related concept of jīng (), which literally means "semen," and by extension used metaphorically to mean "essence" within the context of Taoist literature and traditional Chinese medicine.

Sexual acts are ranked hierarchically, with procreative marital heterosexuality at the top of the hierarchy and masturbation, homosexuality and other sexualities that deviate from societal norms closer to the bottom. Medicine and psychiatry are said to have also contributed to sex-negativity, as they may, from time to time, designate some forms of sexuality that appear on the bottom of this hierarchy as being pathological (see Mental illness).

In this instance the being is literally called up from within oneself (as an archetype) or into oneself (as an external force), depending on the personal belief system of the invoker. The main difference between this type of invocation and the possessive category described above is that the former may appear more controlled, with self-identification and deity-identification mixed together.

In Shinto, the main form of ritual purification is Misogi, which involves natural running water, and especially waterfalls. Rather than being entirely naked, men usually wear Japanese loincloths, and women wear kimonos, both additionally wearing headbands.

They then begin 降り魂 furitama or "spirit shaking" by clenching their hands in front of the stomach and shaking them up and down, vibrating the upper torso. The purpose of this is to become aware of / unified with the spirit's presence within. Following this is a "warm-up" or calisthenics called 鳥船 tori-fune or "bird (boat) rowing". These two aforementioned practices are sometimes accompanied by special prayer words or incantations. After, the "leader" begins to speak out invocations/prayers that are said to activate the spirit. The "followers" generally speak along with them, thus affirming the potential for realizing one's own spirit, and thus unifying them with the Kami around them.
    ...
Misogi is also used in some forms of martial arts, especially Aikido to prepare the mind for training and to learn how to develop your "hara", or centre. The founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba regularly used this form of meditation to complement his training and search for perfection.

    touch

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haptic_communication#Friendship.2Fwarmth

    [edit] Friendship/ warmth

It is more acceptable for women to touch than men in social or friendship settings, possibly because of the innate nature of the person touching have dominance over who they are touching. Whitcher and Fisher (1979) conducted a study to see whether therapeutic touch to reduce anxiety differed between the sexes. A nurse was told to touch patients for one minute while the patients looked at a pamphlet during a routine preoperative procedure. Females reacted positively to the touch, whereas males did not. It was surmised that males equated the touch to being treated as inferior or dependent.

    see Caesar Milan

Touching among family members has been found to affect the behavior of those involved. Various factors are at work within a family setting. As a child grows older, the amount of touching by the parent decreases.

Boys distance themselves from their parents at an earlier age than girls. There is more touching with the same sex parent than with cross-sex parents.

A study of nonverbal communication on how men 'converse' in bars shows that women like men to touch, but it is their touching of other men that intrigues them. The men who are touching others are perceived as having a higher status and social power than those that aren't touching others.

The study found that women were more receptive to men who demanded the most social space, and that when a woman comes into a bar, men will move their drinks far apart to signal to her that they have space in their 'domain' for them.

    ...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Therapeutic_touch
Therapeutic touch (TT), also called Non-Contact Therapeutic Touch (NCTT) or Distance Healing,[1] is an energy therapy claimed to promote healing and reduce pain and anxiety. TT practitioners say that by placing their hands on or near the patient they can detect and manipulate the patient's putative energy field.[2] Although there are 251 articles on TT on PubMed[3] quality of controlled research is variable. One study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that TT practitioners could not detect the presence or absence of a hand placed a few inches above theirs when their vision was obstructed.[4][5][6] The existence of a "biofield" or "bioenergetic field," a necessary component of TT theory, directly contradicts many principles of modern physics, chemistry, and biology.[7][8]

    ki

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kizeme

Kizeme is a Japanese term describing the advanced form of seme when a kendo player has succeeded in causing shift in the mind (attention) of the opponent.[1] Kendoka at that stage takes the offensive mainly through Ki, succeeding in disconcerting the opponent via KI-projection and at much higher skill level without visible gesture.[2]

Kizeme is act of combat predominant in Kendo and should be regarded in contrast to ordinary levels of combat in which the awareness of the practitioners is limited to the most directly perceptible elements: speed, strength and sheer aggressiveness. The last can be used to delineate 3 levels of combat (see the 3 sketches on your right).[3] These 3 levels were elegantly described in a compelling allegory by Issai Chosan (1727) Neko no Myojutsu ("The Cat's Eerie Skill").[4] Kizeme is depicted as the perfect skill in martial art, where non-violence is still an artifice that can be detected and exploited to dismiss the naturally embedded aggression in the ego and reach harmony - the state of Muga-mushin.

An instructive attestation of kizeme can be seen in a demonstration kendo match at Noma dojo by Moriji Mochida (ju-dan hanshi) during the Emperor's Cup (1940).

Seme (攻め, せめ? "attack", "offense") is a Japanese martial arts term for a kind of psychological pressure. The seme is the one inflicting something on to the uke. It is also an attitude meant to disrupt the opponents sense of confidence and resolution, prior to an attack.

    Ki in Translation

Through budo I trained my body thoroughly and mastered its ultimate secrets, but I also realized an even greater truth. That is, when I grasped the real nature of the universe through budo, I saw clearly that human beings must unite mind and body and the ki that connects the two and then achieve harmony with the activity of all things in the universe.

    Timing

    read "Budo" for timing
    *
    http://www.stenudd.com/aikido/ki.htm
    ...
    Timing

Because the joining is done with ki at first, and not bodies, there is really no need to wait for uke’s body. The joining of ki can be done as soon as uke has aimed at tori, ie. started a ki flow in that direction. And when uke is committed to the ki flow, so that uke’s body moves along it, then tori can start steering it.
When the steering starts as early as at uke’s initial move, very little body movement is needed, but uke is greatly affected from that moment on.
If you accept and join with uke’s ki already at the moment uke takes aim, it becomes quite difficult for uke to attack at all. It’s as if the target disappeared. Who would ram an open door?

So, there are different timings that can be used in aikido. They correspond to the three training forms gotai, jutai and kinagare.
In gotai ("hard body"), starting from a static position where uke has already applied a grip, what has to be joined with is the ki continually keeping the grip. In jutai ("soft body"), where uke is advancing and the technique begins right before physical contact, tori is using the enhanced flow of ki by which uke is doing the attack. In kinagare ("flowing ki"), the continued training without a marked beginning or end, usually done with more than one attacker, tori needs to join with the ki already when uke takes aim – this way, tori acts so early that it gives the impression of tori initiating, almost as if being the attacker.
The last one, the kinagare timing, is the most advanced one, of course, and is really what the two former timings prepare for. One should cultivate the spirit of this timing, in Japanese sensen no sen, the ability and readiness to join with ki as soon as it comes, before any body movement. Kinagare means flowing ki. Ki should always be flowing.

    kime

    http://aikidoforbeginners.blogspot.com/2006/11/ideal-aikido.html
    ...
The methodology of aiki combat is to seek to finalise quickly. Other attackers are coming. Its basis is kime, conclusive and quick decisiveness.
In faking this for training beginners in today’s modern Aikido, it becomes possible to miss the very important parts which make the whole technique.

    ...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kime
    ...
Kime (Japanese: 決め) is a Japanese martial arts term. In karate it can mean 'focus' - the instantaneous tensing at the correct moment during a technique. The tension at this time is mostly focused in the Tanden/Hara and Abdomen. In judo, the 'Kime-no-kata' are often translated as the 'Kata of Decision'. In other budo the term refers to attacking a pressure point. In all cases certain finality is implied.
    ...
    http://www.karatethejapaneseway.com/articles/kime.html
    ...
Kime, in the Japanese sense, but even more specifically in a Japanese karate sense, does not merely mean kimeru, as in “I decided on scrambled rather than boiled eggs for breakfast”. kime, in the contexts of karate means much more than that. Although a direct translation into English is not possible, the word still has potent meaning, and not just in the vernacular of everyday Japanese conversation.
    ...
Kime is, instead better described along both physical and psychological lines. Kime is when both the body and brain are executing sharp, crisp, penetrating, and hard technique that utilizes the entire person. Kime is when technique is “grounded”, when it “comes up through the floor”, where the body’s entire musculature is used in a sudden explosive moment, and also when the mind is linked to the technique.
    ...

Technique that has no kime are often times when the heel of the foot rises off the floor, or when the hips don’t snap into place at the right time during punches. Techniques with no kime are where body flab puts you off balance. Technique with no kime may be when your back is not straight as you stand in zenkutsudachi. Technique that has no kime may be when the retracting hand is weak, when the punching hand over-extends unnecessarily, when the shoulders are too tight and makes technique tentative, or when the course of the punch is not straight and is shaky and bobbing at the end of your arm.

Those are some of the physical instances where kime cannot be “activated” because the body through which karate technique is trying to be performed is ill-fit, or misaligned, or presently not a good “conductor” to technique which possesses it. Kime is primarily physical, so if the body is “out of whack” there is no real way for the karate practitioner to “finish” or have “decisiveness” in anything. Fix your stance, relax your body, move slowly to make sure you are moving correctly.

Kime is sudden. Kime is a technique which is “finished to completion”. Perhaps a physical description may be of some service here. As I have been teaching karate more and more over the years I have noticed a common problem with karate students in being too “stiff”, too “hard” in their shoulders and necks as they stand in zenkutsudachi executing various technique. Excellent karate stances are strong, but they primarily utilize only the muscles needed for stances. Their shoulders are relaxed, fluid, and ready to move.

    ...

The fundamentals of punches and kicks that your instructors harass you about are for your own development of karate physique and mentality. They are, if they are good instructors, gearing you up for developing kime in your karate. When you are able to consistently have kime in your punches, blocks, and kicks and have “mastered” some of the basics of our martial art, then you can start to deviate from the text.

Maybe karate is quite a bit like music. You need to develop your basics of scales, tone, and rhythm. Once you have some of that material cold you can start to deviate and experiment with your own style based on your own body, temperament, and sensibilities. Kime may be something like hitting the perfect note, full and heavy with tone and meaning. Perhaps that is one of the best ways to consider kime. Perhaps kime is better described as a “punctuated note” in karate. Exact, perfect, and in synch with your whole body.

    ...
    Mark Groenewold
    ...
    http://www.warriorwiz.com/streetwise/pdf/kime.htm

The translation for kime is focus, but in reality it also includes the concepts of synergy or teamwork as well. The physical expression of kime is the ability to analyze and implement several separate motions that come together at the same time and place, creating maximum efficiency. Successful execution of this concept allows a small individual to deliver a technique with sufficient power to defeat a much larger opponent. Examples of different actions that are included in delivering maximum focus of energy in a strike include hip rotation, forward movement of mass, snapping and rotation of the striking limb, and the tightening of all muscles at the spilt second of impact. Breaking down the action into individual components is a mental exercise and each element is developed based on priority of importance. Once each element is developed, the key becomes one of timing, allowing all of the elements to come to bear at the same split second.

This same process occurs when the successful person identifies what it is they truly want and creates plans of action making it happen. It is commonly understood that 20% of your actions create 80% of the positive results you are trying to accomplish. By identifying which actions will create the maximum results and focusing on them, while at the same time minimizing or even eliminating wasteful actions, you will be applying the concept of kime to living a successful life. This is why people with clearly defined goals and written action plans can achieve more in a few years, than most people do during their entire lives. Wilfred Peterson once wrote, “Success is focusing the full power of all you are on what you have the burning desire to achieve.”

It symbolizes the physical body. To achieve 'ki'

    means that the

    mind is surpassed

and the spirit directly controls the body.

Thinking is no longer necessary (emotions do not get involved) when it becomes reflex. We all know that "reaction" is "thought before action". Reflex is absent of thought, like when you touch a hot stove. There is no though involved, you reflex according to your body's natural self-defense system. The heart may be the strongest physical muscle in the body but, it is also the most deceptive, it leads us by emotion. Emotion can take you farther thatn you want to go and keep you longer than you should stay. The tongue is the most versital muscle in the body but it can cut deeper than any sword. Emotion is not needed in combat. Only training properly everyday can ready you for that.

Training properly should be the training of the spirit and the body will naturally be conditioned to support the task. That is spiritual training in the martial arts, not religion. Religion has no place in combat, it does effect how a warrior trains and fights however. We don't join the military to become a priest but, to become a warrior. Your religious beliefs are best when expressed through example and action. Actions speak louder than words.

    The Ki of Barberism
"These very same assumptions operate in other activities, like hairdressing, for example. In my local shop there is a student, a deshi, whose entire training consists of watching in silence what the barber does. In the years I have been a customer I have never seen him cut a single hair, other than give a customer a shave. Eventually, he will be able to do this, but only on selected heads and always under the very watchful eye of the barber. I have no doubt that he will become a very good hairdresser, but this will not be the result of any explicit teaching on the part of the barber. I have been told that O-Sensei used to require of his deshi two years of ukemi practice before being introduced to techniques and in one of his books Saito Sensei suggests two years of suburi before beginning kumitachi. To my mind this is barbershop training par excellence.

I think it needs to be stressed that students brought up in a western educational system do not have these assumptions and that to approach a Japanese martial art like aikido, especially if it is presented according to the above assumptions, requires an intellectual “paradigm shift” of considerable magnitude.

The idea that the deshi has to “steal” the knowledge or techniques from the teacher is often mentioned by disciples of O-Sensei and there is the implicit suggestion that so-called western ways of teaching based on rational explanation have no place in aikido. This might have been the case in O-Sensei’s day before World War II, but it is clear that aikido’s “centre of gravity” has shifted somewhat. It might be too much to say that this centre is no longer in Japan, but the mere fact of thousands of dedicated and technically able aikido practitioners outside Japan must surely add a dimension to the art that O-Sensei cannot have imagined. In the rest of this article, I shall discuss the question of whether the actual dissemination of aikido has been “westernized” since O-Sensei’s time and if so, to what extent this matters for the future."
    ...
"there are the so-called training manuals Budo and Budo Renshu. The former is supposed to have been written by O-Sensei himself and the latter to have been approved by him. However,

    (1) they were only given to certain students, probably those who passed certain unspecified tests of martial virtue and were in no sense general aikido manuals available to anyone, and

    (2) the explanations would be incomprehensible to anyone who did not possess a thorough knowledge of Japanese culture (in particular, of the contents and significance of the collections of Japanese myths known as the Kojiki and Nihonshoki) or who did not already understand the various techniques which O-Sensei practiced at the time.

Even then, many immediate students of O-Sensei have confessed that they had very little understanding of the more esoteric explanations he gave relating to the “unalterable” laws of the universe etc. These students continuously trained under O-Sensei’s direction and would surely have been in the best position to acquire such understanding. But this does not appear to have been the case."

"Judging from the written records and his own statements, it is highly probable that O-Sensei had experiences which might properly be termed mystical and these formed a central element in the creation of his art. Mysticism is a highly respected element in the Western religious tradition and it is clearly not the exclusive preserve of religions like Christianity, with its western intellectual background. The great mystics like Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross were, like O-Sensei, both major reformers in their chosen spheres of activity. Unlike O-Sensei, they both left copious records of their mystical experiences, but these records bring us no closer to an actual understanding of these experiences and they are in no sense a means of replicating these experiences in ourselves. O-Sensei composed some poems that are incomprehensible to most aikido practitioners. But perhaps we have no right to expect O-Sensei to present such experiences in words that we can understand ?"

    Energy Overcharge

    HYPER? OVER-EXCITED? BATTERIES OVER-CHARGED ?

    When your energy is scrambled,
you speak with a scrambled tongue.
    - Donna Eden

    Over-Energization or Hyper-Arousal
It's wonderful to feel high on life, but if you're so super-charged that you feel disorganized, scattered or out of control, you'll probably function better if you "get it together !"

Try "Cook's Hook-up." as illustrated below and taught in my book, Feeling Free ! It feels great ! For frequent hyper-arousal, do it many times a day !"

    OVER-ENERGY CORRECTION a.k.a. "Cook's Hook-up"
    1. Cross left ankle over right.
    2. Extend both arms in front of you, hands back to back.
    3. Cross right hand over left at wrist and clasp fingers together, interlocked.
    4. Tuck clasped hands under and up, and rest them comfortably on your chest.
    5. Inhale slowly by nose, tongue up in mouth. Exhale by mouth, tongue down.
    6. Hold this pose, gently, and continue slow, deep breathing for 1 to 2 minutes.

If an over-energy condition is chronic for you, repeat 10 times daily for 2 months to retrain.

    Energy Testing Yourself

    http://www.feelingfree.net/awareness/selftest.htm

    Energy Testing Yourself

Energy Testing. There's no better way to really get to know your energy field, inside and out, than a reliable energy self-test. If you wish to find out what your energy field responds best to, what compromises your energy and functioning, and what subconscious thoughts/ beliefs/memories sabotage your ability to grow and change, energy self-testing is the key.

Muscle Testing. In Energy Psychology, "muscle testing" is a frequent type of energy test, used to assess or dowse energy flow through a muscle group. The muscle testing used by Energy Psychology clinicians is a simple form of Kinesiology.

    ...

Energy Testing Without Muscle. Also popular and exceedingly useful are energy-check methods that do not test muscle energy. These methods are ideal for self-use, and are the methods I offer my clients and use myself: (1) ideomotor test, (2) "sticky-smooth" test, (3) pendulum dowsing. I'll introduce you to these energy self-tests and then suggest practice activities. [If you're new to this type of activity, I suggest you do The Three Thumps and/or Belly-Button Correction first just to boost your energy, reinforce correct polarity, and defuse your excitement!]

    1. IDEOMOTOR TEST. The term "ideomotor" suggests that an idea or thought connects with a motor response. An ideomotor energy test demonstrates exactly that, even if the idea/thought is subconscious rather than conscious. An easy, useful ideomotor test is the "SWAY TEST" using your whole standing body. Just as a tree leans to face the sun, the human body inclines naturally toward what agrees with it. That's why the Sway Test is a great guide for healthy supermarket shopping!

Think YES, with a strong positive feeling. Wait, and notice your body's subtle response to YES. It will naturally sway slightly forward. Repeat this a few times for practice. Now think NO, with a yucky negative feeling. Notice your body's response to NO. It will lean slightly back or to the side, and do so readily and reliably with practice. That's the ideomotor response.

A subtle and handy variation of the Sway Test is the "Head Nod." Try it right now if you like.

Relax, breathe, and then invite your head to indicate YES. Notice your head's natural response to YES. It will naturally tip slightly forward as though beginning to nod, "Yes." Repeat for practice.

Then relax, breathe, and invite your head to indicate NO. Notice your head's natural response to NO. It will naturally turn slightly to the side as though beginning a head-shake, "No," or it will draw back a little. We'll do some "practical practice" a little further on.

    2. STICKY-SMOOTH TESTS. Place the palms of your hands together and rub them against each other a few times. Then, ask your body to use a smooth feeling to mean "Yes." Just be in "allow" mode, letting your body relax and respond. Now, rub your hands together gently and notice how they feel for Yes. Take your time. Practice a few times until Yes and smooth are reliably connected. Next, ask your body to use a sticky feeling to mean "No." Let your body respond. Rub your hands together gently and notice how they feel for No. Take your time, and practice a few times until No and sticky are reliably connected. Now that your body has the idea, try it with "Yum!" and "Yuck!" Your body will know to respond with smooth for Yum and sticky for Yuck.

A useful one-handed variation on the smooth-sticky test is a finger test. Rub the pads of your index finger and thumb lightly together to get the feel. Then, ask your body to use a smooth feeling to mean "Yes" or "Agree" or "That's healthy/ okay for me." Let your body respond. Rub your finger and thumb together gently and notice how they feel for Yes. Take your time, and practice a few times until "Yes" or "agree" or "okay for me" are reliably connected to smooth. Then, ask your body to use a sticky feeling to mean "No" or "disagree" or "That's not okay for me." Proceed as before. Practice a few times until "No" or "disagree" or "not okay" and sticky are reliably connected. Now try the finger/ thumb test with "Yum!" and "Yuck!" Your fingers will respond with smooth for Yum and sticky for Yuck.

    1. Press the fingers of one hand firmly on your navel and keep them there.

    2. Rub under your nose with the index finger of the other hand for 6 to 8 seconds.

    3. (Fingers on navel -) Rub under your lower lip for 6 to 8 seconds.

    4. Extend fingers and thumb to massage both collarbone points for 6 to 8 seconds.

    5. (Fingers on navel -) Massage your tailbone for 6 to 8 seconds.

    6. Reverse hands and repeat the procedure (optional, but recommended !).

    SEEMORG MATRIX WORK™

My office has become a miracle room.
    - Nahoma Asha Clinton, PhD

SEEMORG MATRIX WORK- THE THEORY IN BRIEF. According to Nahoma Asha Clinton, LCSW, Ph.D., trauma is the fertile ground out of which most psychological pathology grows. Whenever a person thinks of a past trauma, or even when some present event triggers him/her to remember the trauma subconsciously, then difficult emotions and/or physical symptoms can arise. When unbearable emotions related to past traumas remain unresolved, the person is at risk to develop negative beliefs, desires, fantasies, obsessions, compulsions, and/or addictions. The personality may even become distorted in a characteristic way. In some cases, it's fractured by dissociation.

The psychological disturbance caused by unhealed trauma is complex. Traumas from childhood are reinforced by similar traumas in adulthood (e.g., "hurt again," "abandoned again"). The client's trauma-based core beliefs create a distorted thought and energy grid, or character structure, through which the world is experienced. This traumatic complex can block the development of positive qualities, damage the personality's divine potential for wholeness, and prevent any true sense of spiritual connection. Clinically identified clusters of distorted core beliefs form the "matrices" which are the therapeutic focus.

The Seemorg Matrix approach is a complete transpersonal energy psychotherapy synthesizing the best clinical features of many traditional and complementary treatment modalities. It quickly eliminates psychological disorders and emotionally-related physical disorders, providing profound and lasting relief. Remarkably, it does all this with minimal emotional distress. [If this piques your interest, click on Nahoma Asha Clinton's new website

SEEMORG MATRIX TREATMENT. As the client talks with the therapist about his/her problem, energy (muscle) testing serves as a guide to subconscious information about underlying belief structures and indicates related energy blocks. Once maladaptive subconscious belief complexes are identified, they are treated energetically.

The client keeps an aspect of the belief matrix in mind by repeating a representative phrase or sentence aloud while (self-)touching each of the Seemorg Matrix energy treatment points in turn. The treatment points include all of the body's major chakras (primary energy centers), as well as several minor chakras, and may include one or two meridian points.

Treatment is thorough, resolving resistance quickly and easily. With the therapist's guidance, the client tracks and clears all possible threads or leads from the belief matrix that appear to have a negative influence on healthy functioning - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Seemorg Matrix psychotherapy works well not only for deep, trauma-based clinical issues. The basic Seemorg Matrix treatment protocol is also simple to apply and user-friendly. Once learned, clients frequently find it helpful beyond the clinician's office to clear their own situational emotional distress when it arises.

Training as a Seemorg Matrix therapist involves a multi-level program of instruction and supervised practice. For more complete information about Seemorg Matrix Work and its innovator, Dr. Nahoma Asha Clinton, go to http://www.seemorgmatrix.org/. Training workshops are listed and you will find a directory of practitioners who use Seemorg Matrix Work clinically.

Be Set Free Fast - BSFF

    ...
    Be Set Free Fast
, popularly known as BSFF, was developed by Dr. Larry Nims, Clinical Psychologist. BSFF is a complete energy therapy approach to treating psychological problems. It is a fluid, elegant system of dynamic interaction between energy clinician and client. If you're already eager to learn more about BSFF, you can read along here with me for my appreciative overview or check out

    ...

    "BE SET FREE FAST"

Behavioral and Emotional Symptom Elimination Training For
Resolving Excess Emotion: Fear, Anger, Sadness and T
    rauma.

BSFF THEORY. According to Dr. Nims, the subconscious mind (SCM) is a good and faithful servant, just doing its job, running programs. The SCM runs the programs that govern most of our thoughts, feelings and actions when we function on automatic. Fortunately, most of those programs are helpful. They remind us how to use a telephone, use the toaster and fry an egg, how to drive the car and where to find our car keys (well, most of the time, anyway), without taking up the conscious mind's time and attention. In this way, the SCM allows us to multitask for efficiency.

THE PROBLEM IS THIS: the SCM is easily cued to run old, outdated programs. Though they may be dysfunctional now, our most consistent (and insistent) emotional programs were installed in early years. It's those programs that tell us certain situations are likely to be HURTFUL, making us FEARFUL or ANGRY, so that we JUDGE AND CRITICIZE others, ourselves and the situations, because that's what we've been taught. This happens even in present-day situations that we know are not likely to be hurtful or scary like before.
If old, dysfunctional programs are running, any attempt at forgiveness of self or another will likely be ineffective. That's because the SCM is still running programs based on (1) hurtful root experiences and (2) subconscious beliefs we've constructed from them.

BSFF TREATMENT. The therapist first establishes an energy feedback system so that the client can communicate with the his/her subconscious mind. This may be called a "muscle test" or, more correctly, an "energy check." (Click on Energy Testing to learn how!)

An energy check ... helps you explore your thoughts and feelings about your problem, using the energy check to see if your subconscious mind (SCM) and your conscious mind agree.

HERE'S A 'FOR INSTANCE'. From your conscious mind you state with conviction, "I'm completely over that old hurt/ trauma that happened way back then. I've let it all go." However, careful energy checking might reveal that your SCM says something like this: "I'm still deeply hurt about that … and I don't ever want to get over it … because then I won't be safe … and I could get hurt some more … so it's not okay for me to get over this problem … and I want to keep it."

Well … if that's the program that's automatically running in your SCM, you're not going to get over your irrational hurt, or fear and anxiety, or unwarranted frustration, resentment and anger, or whatever the problem is. Fortunately, there's good news from Dr. Nims and BSFF !

BSFF is a way to systematically eliminate such emotional problems

quickly, deeply and painlessly, using healing verbal triggers or cues

… and the help of your subconscious mind !
