Magic may refer to:
Theurgy (from Greek θεουργία) describes the practice of rituals, sometimes seen as magical in nature, performed with the intention of invoking the action of one or more gods, especially with the goal of uniting with the divine, achieving henosis, and perfecting oneself.
See also Invocation.
Invocation can refer to taking on the qualities of the being invoked, such as the allure of Aphrodite or the ferocity of Kali. In this instance the being is literally called up from within oneself (as an archetype) or into oneself (as an external force), depending on the personal belief system of the invoker. The main difference between this type of invocation and the possessive category described above is that the former may appear more controlled, with self-identification and deity-identification mixed together.

Ritual serves diverse purposes including, but not limited to:

from organized religion to non-institutionalized spirituality, such as ayahuasca shamanism as practiced by the Urarina of the upper Amazon. Rituals often have a close connection with reverence, thus a ritual in many cases expresses reverence for a deity or idealized state of humanity.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rituals#SociologyAlongside the personal dimensions of worship and reverence, rituals can have a more basic social function in expressing, fixing and reinforcing the shared values and beliefs of a society. This function can be exploited for political ends, though it lies at the heart of most sociological understandings of religious ritual.
Rituals can aid in creating a firm sense of group identity. Humans have used rituals to create social bonds and even to nourish interpersonal relationships.

In psychology, the term ritual refers to a repetitive, systematic behavioral process enacted in order to neutralize or prevent anxiety and is a symptom of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Categories: Cultural conventions Ritual Anthropology of religionIt is more acceptable for women to touch than men in social or friendship settings, possibly because of the innate nature of the person touching have dominance over who they are touching. Whitcher and Fisher (1979) conducted a study to see whether therapeutic touch to reduce anxiety differed between the sexes. A nurse was told to touch patients for one minute while the patients looked at a pamphlet during a routine preoperative procedure. Females reacted positively to the touch, whereas males did not. It was surmised that males equated the touch to being treated as inferior or dependent.
see Caesar Milan
Touching among family members has been found to affect the behavior of those involved. Various factors are at work within a family setting. As a child grows older, the amount of touching by the parent decreases.
Boys distance themselves from their parents at an earlier age than girls. There is more touching with the same sex parent than with cross-sex parents.
A study of nonverbal communication on how men 'converse' in bars shows that women like men to touch, but it is their touching of other men that intrigues them. The men who are touching others are perceived as having a higher status and social power than those that aren't touching others.
The study found that women were more receptive to men who demanded the most social space, and that when a woman comes into a bar, men will move their drinks far apart to signal to her that they have space in their 'domain' for them.
...Kizeme is a Japanese term describing the advanced form of seme when a kendo player has succeeded in causing shift in the mind (attention) of the opponent.[1] Kendoka at that stage takes the offensive mainly through Ki, succeeding in disconcerting the opponent via KI-projection and at much higher skill level without visible gesture.[2]
Kizeme is act of combat predominant in Kendo and should be regarded in contrast to ordinary levels of combat in which the awareness of the practitioners is limited to the most directly perceptible elements: speed, strength and sheer aggressiveness. The last can be used to delineate 3 levels of combat (see the 3 sketches on your right).[3] These 3 levels were elegantly described in a compelling allegory by Issai Chosan (1727) Neko no Myojutsu ("The Cat's Eerie Skill").[4] Kizeme is depicted as the perfect skill in martial art, where non-violence is still an artifice that can be detected and exploited to dismiss the naturally embedded aggression in the ego and reach harmony - the state of Muga-mushin.
An instructive attestation of kizeme can be seen in a demonstration kendo match at Noma dojo by Moriji Mochida (ju-dan hanshi) during the Emperor's Cup (1940).
"Swordsmanship is basically the exercising of the Life Force and,
therefore, at the beginning of the study the
Life Force is exercised by means of technique."[5]

Seme (攻め, せめ, Seme? "attack", "offense") is a Japanese martial arts term for a kind of psychological pressure. The seme is the one inflicting something on to the uke. It is also an attitude meant to disrupt the opponents sense of confidence and resolution, prior to an attack.
= ki + ma-ai rather then mindset only
The term is mostly used in kendo.
Ki in Translation
Through budo I trained my body thoroughly and mastered its ultimate secrets, but I also realized an even greater truth. That is, when I grasped the real nature of the universe through budo, I saw clearly that human beings must unite mind and body and the ki that connects the two and then achieve harmony with the activity of all things in the universe.
...Technique that has no kime are often times when the heel of the foot rises off the floor, or when the hips don’t snap into place at the right time during punches. Techniques with no kime are where body flab puts you off balance. Technique with no kime may be when your back is not straight as you stand in zenkutsudachi. Technique that has no kime may be when the retracting hand is weak, when the punching hand over-extends unnecessarily, when the shoulders are too tight and makes technique tentative, or when the course of the punch is not straight and is shaky and bobbing at the end of your arm.
Those are some of the physical instances where kime cannot be “activated” because the body through which karate technique is trying to be performed is ill-fit, or misaligned, or presently not a good “conductor” to technique which possesses it. Kime is primarily physical, so if the body is “out of whack” there is no real way for the karate practitioner to “finish” or have “decisiveness” in anything. Fix your stance, relax your body, move slowly to make sure you are moving correctly.
Kime is sudden. Kime is a technique which is “finished to completion”. Perhaps a physical description may be of some service here. As I have been teaching karate more and more over the years I have noticed a common problem with karate students in being too “stiff”, too “hard” in their shoulders and necks as they stand in zenkutsudachi executing various technique. Excellent karate stances are strong, but they primarily utilize only the muscles needed for stances. Their shoulders are relaxed, fluid, and ready to move.
The fundamentals of punches and kicks that your instructors harass you about are for your own development of karate physique and mentality. They are, if they are good instructors, gearing you up for developing kime in your karate. When you are able to consistently have kime in your punches, blocks, and kicks and have “mastered” some of the basics of our martial art, then you can start to deviate from the text.
Maybe karate is quite a bit like music. You need to develop your basics of scales, tone, and rhythm. Once you have some of that material cold you can start to deviate and experiment with your own style based on your own body, temperament, and sensibilities. Kime may be something like hitting the perfect note, full and heavy with tone and meaning. Perhaps that is one of the best ways to consider kime. Perhaps kime is better described as a “punctuated note” in karate. Exact, perfect, and in synch with your whole body.
The translation for kime is focus, but in reality it also includes the concepts of synergy or teamwork as well. The physical expression of kime is the ability to analyze and implement several separate motions that come together at the same time and place, creating maximum efficiency. Successful execution of this concept allows a small individual to deliver a technique with sufficient power to defeat a much larger opponent. Examples of different actions that are included in delivering maximum focus of energy in a strike include hip rotation, forward movement of mass, snapping and rotation of the striking limb, and the tightening of all muscles at the spilt second of impact. Breaking down the action into individual components is a mental exercise and each element is developed based on priority of importance. Once each element is developed, the key becomes one of timing, allowing all of the elements to come to bear at the same split second.
This same process occurs when the successful person identifies what it is they truly want and creates plans of action making it happen. It is commonly understood that 20% of your actions create 80% of the positive results you are trying to accomplish. By identifying which actions will create the maximum results and focusing on them, while at the same time minimizing or even eliminating wasteful actions, you will be applying the concept of kime to living a successful life. This is why people with clearly defined goals and written action plans can achieve more in a few years, than most people do during their entire lives. Wilfred Peterson once wrote, “Success is focusing the full power of all you are on what you have the burning desire to achieve.”

It symbolizes the physical body. To achieve 'ki'
means that the
mind is surpassed
and the spirit directly controls the body.
Thinking is no longer necessary (emotions do not get involved) when it becomes reflex. We all know that "reaction" is "thought before action". Reflex is absent of thought, like when you touch a hot stove. There is no though involved, you reflex according to your body's natural self-defense system. The heart may be the strongest physical muscle in the body but, it is also the most deceptive, it leads us by emotion. Emotion can take you farther thatn you want to go and keep you longer than you should stay. The tongue is the most versital muscle in the body but it can cut deeper than any sword. Emotion is not needed in combat. Only training properly everyday can ready you for that.
Training properly should be the training of the spirit and the body will naturally be conditioned to support the task. That is spiritual training in the martial arts, not religion. Religion has no place in combat, it does effect how a warrior trains and fights however. We don't join the military to become a priest but, to become a warrior. Your religious beliefs are best when expressed through example and action. Actions speak louder than words.

Energy Testing. There's no better way to really get to know your energy field, inside and out, than a reliable energy self-test. If you wish to find out what your energy field responds best to, what compromises your energy and functioning, and what subconscious thoughts/ beliefs/memories sabotage your ability to grow and change, energy self-testing is the key.
Muscle Testing. In Energy Psychology, "muscle testing" is a frequent type of energy test, used to assess or dowse energy flow through a muscle group. The muscle testing used by Energy Psychology clinicians is a simple form of Kinesiology.
...
Energy Testing Without Muscle. Also popular and exceedingly useful are energy-check methods that do not test muscle energy. These methods are ideal for self-use, and are the methods I offer my clients and use myself: (1) ideomotor test, (2) "sticky-smooth" test, (3) pendulum dowsing. I'll introduce you to these energy self-tests and then suggest practice activities. [If you're new to this type of activity, I suggest you do The Three Thumps and/or Belly-Button Correction first just to boost your energy, reinforce correct polarity, and defuse your excitement!]
1. IDEOMOTOR TEST. The term "ideomotor" suggests that an idea or thought connects with a motor response. An ideomotor energy test demonstrates exactly that, even if the idea/thought is subconscious rather than conscious. An easy, useful ideomotor test is the "SWAY TEST" using your whole standing body. Just as a tree leans to face the sun, the human body inclines naturally toward what agrees with it. That's why the Sway Test is a great guide for healthy supermarket shopping!
Think YES, with a strong positive feeling. Wait, and notice your body's subtle response to YES. It will naturally sway slightly forward. Repeat this a few times for practice. Now think NO, with a yucky negative feeling. Notice your body's response to NO. It will lean slightly back or to the side, and do so readily and reliably with practice. That's the ideomotor response.
A subtle and handy variation of the Sway Test is the "Head Nod." Try it right now if you like.
Relax, breathe, and then invite your head to indicate YES. Notice your head's natural response to YES. It will naturally tip slightly forward as though beginning to nod, "Yes." Repeat for practice.
Then relax, breathe, and invite your head to indicate NO. Notice your head's natural response to NO. It will naturally turn slightly to the side as though beginning a head-shake, "No," or it will draw back a little. We'll do some "practical practice" a little further on.
2. STICKY-SMOOTH TESTS. Place the palms of your hands together and rub them against each other a few times. Then, ask your body to use a smooth feeling to mean "Yes." Just be in "allow" mode, letting your body relax and respond. Now, rub your hands together gently and notice how they feel for Yes. Take your time. Practice a few times until Yes and smooth are reliably connected. Next, ask your body to use a sticky feeling to mean "No." Let your body respond. Rub your hands together gently and notice how they feel for No. Take your time, and practice a few times until No and sticky are reliably connected. Now that your body has the idea, try it with "Yum!" and "Yuck!" Your body will know to respond with smooth for Yum and sticky for Yuck.
A useful one-handed variation on the smooth-sticky test is a finger test. Rub the pads of your index finger and thumb lightly together to get the feel. Then, ask your body to use a smooth feeling to mean "Yes" or "Agree" or "That's healthy/ okay for me." Let your body respond. Rub your finger and thumb together gently and notice how they feel for Yes. Take your time, and practice a few times until "Yes" or "agree" or "okay for me" are reliably connected to smooth. Then, ask your body to use a sticky feeling to mean "No" or "disagree" or "That's not okay for me." Proceed as before. Practice a few times until "No" or "disagree" or "not okay" and sticky are reliably connected. Now try the finger/ thumb test with "Yum!" and "Yuck!" Your fingers will respond with smooth for Yum and sticky for Yuck.

Be Set Free Fast - BSFF
...
Be Set Free Fast, popularly known as BSFF, was developed by Dr. Larry Nims, Clinical Psychologist. BSFF is a complete energy therapy approach to treating psychological problems. It is a fluid, elegant system of dynamic interaction between energy clinician and client. If you're already eager to learn more about BSFF, you can read along here with me for my appreciative overview or check out this site . I love using BSFF !

"BE SET FREE FAST"
Behavioral and Emotional Symptom Elimination Training For
Resolving Excess Emotion: Fear, Anger, Sadness and Trauma.
BSFF THEORY. According to Dr. Nims, the subconscious mind (SCM) is a good and faithful servant, just doing its job, running programs. The SCM runs the programs that govern most of our thoughts, feelings and actions when we function on automatic. Fortunately, most of those programs are helpful. They remind us how to use a telephone, use the toaster and fry an egg, how to drive the car and where to find our car keys (well, most of the time, anyway), without taking up the conscious mind's time and attention. In this way, the SCM allows us to multitask for efficiency.
THE PROBLEM IS THIS: the SCM is easily cued to run old, outdated programs. Though they may be dysfunctional now, our most consistent (and insistent) emotional programs were installed in early years. It's those programs that tell us certain situations are likely to be HURTFUL, making us FEARFUL or ANGRY, so that we JUDGE AND CRITICIZE others, ourselves and the situations, because that's what we've been taught. This happens even in present-day situations that we know are not likely to be hurtful or scary like before.
If old, dysfunctional programs are running, any attempt at forgiveness of self or another will likely be ineffective. That's because the SCM is still running programs based on (1) hurtful root experiences and (2) subconscious beliefs we've constructed from them.
BSFF TREATMENT. The therapist first establishes an energy feedback system so that the client can communicate with the his/her subconscious mind. This may be called a "muscle test" or, more correctly, an "energy check." (Click on Energy Testing to learn how!)
An energy check ... helps you explore your thoughts and feelings about your problem, using the energy check to see if your subconscious mind (SCM) and your conscious mind agree.
HERE'S A 'FOR INSTANCE'. From your conscious mind you state with conviction, "I'm completely over that old hurt/ trauma that happened way back then. I've let it all go." However, careful energy checking might reveal that your SCM says something like this: "I'm still deeply hurt about that … and I don't ever want to get over it … because then I won't be safe … and I could get hurt some more … so it's not okay for me to get over this problem … and I want to keep it."
Well … if that's the program that's automatically running in your SCM, you're not going to get over your irrational hurt, or fear and anxiety, or unwarranted frustration, resentment and anger, or whatever the problem is. Fortunately, there's good news from Dr. Nims and BSFF !
BSFF is a way to systematically eliminate such emotional problems
quickly, deeply and painlessly, using healing verbal triggers or cues
… and the help of your subconscious mind !
